Ashburton maintained its 2nd place on the WPL ladder after defeating the Casey Comets 3:0 in a rugged encounter which was marred by several confusing referee decisions. The first half saw both sides fail to trouble the scoreboard, however Ashy had numerous chances which were not capitalised on. Early in the half Christine Pfeiffer cut back a ball from the right which unfortunately finished just behind Kristen Stensholt who was lurking dangerously close to goal.
Tensions were high after the referee seemed to let the Comets get away with what seemed like an unfair physical attack on the skillful Ashburton side. At one point Kristen Stensholt was about to pull the trigger on a shot 6 yards out when her foot was taken out from behind and to the amazement of the crowd no penalty was given.

The second half saw the Ashy girls break the shackles of the tight Comet defence with Gulcan Koca deservingly scoring a goal. For the second week in a row the Ashy midfield dominated play with Rosey Mortellaro, Cindy Dussoye and Seyma Erenli prominent and supplying the forwards with chances. Kristen Stensholt had a "day out" wide on the left while the defence stayed tight and maintained their shape throughout the game. In one great passage of play Seyma Erenli took possession in the midfield and passed to Annabelle Gibney on the right who took the ball 40 yards into the box and then cut the ball back for an easy tap in to Cindy Dussoye. After Cindy's goal was scored Ashburton lifted to another level with a constant attack on the Cranbourne goal, and eventually Christine Pfeiffer sealed the game with an impressive lob from 20 metres.
