Ashburton’s WPL mid-season woes continued on Sunday as it was held to a 0-0 draw by visiting Keilor Park. The early season pace-setter, Ashburton has taken only four points from its last four games, and will slip to fourth if Eltham North wins against Eastern Lions on Tuesday night. The game was a real "nail biter" and most of the crowd looked on with dismay when Keilor put a ball into the back of the net late in the second half. Luckily for Ashy the ref had called offside. Ashburton would have been unlucky to lose this match as they had more shots and corners but the Keilor defence was very efficient and stood firm under constant attack in the first half.
Meanwhile, the WPL Reserves continued their unbeaten run with a 2:0 result against Keilor Park and the State 2s held on strongly to defeat league leaders Monbulk 1:0. Unfortunately the State 3 team dropped their match against Sandringham 0:3. The U16 continued to plunder the opposition with an impressive 11:00 caning of South Melbourne.
