Heidelberg
United leads the way in the
WPL after Ashburton slipped
up at home with an upset
loss to third-placed Eltham
North. Eltham North claimed
its third big scalp of the
season and in the process
announced itself as a
serious finals contender
with a 1-0 win over
Ashburton on Sunday. Deanna
Niceski’s first half goal
was enough for the visitors,
who have been the surprise
packets of the season so
far. Ashburton’s first loss
of the campaign sees it
surrender top spot, but it
remains one place higher
than Eltham, which stays in
third.
